Introducing the RS5100 Single Finger Bluetooth Ring Scanner from Zebra Technologies

Ring scanners can provide your workforce with the hands-free scanning they need to maximize productivity. But today’s workers have high expectations for wearable devices. They expect a modern design with a minimal footprint for maximum comfort, ease-of-use that’s so intuitive that virtually no training is required, plus point-and-shoot scanning simplicity on every barcode.

Your business requires a flexible design that’s just as at home in customer-facing areas as the warehouse, a rugged design to ensure a long lifecycle with a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), scanning options that match the needs of your environment, plus backroom accessories that reduce management time and cost. Now, you can have it all with the RS5100.

You get superior ergonomics and ease-of-use. The tiny, feather-light and low-profile RS5100 is purposefully understated at just over two ounces and two cubic inches. Workers can pick the most comfortable wearing style — on a finger or the back of the hand for either hand or on a lanyard (available Q1 2020).

Since the trigger assembly is the only part that touches the skin, with Zebra’s modular two-piece design, you can give workers their own trigger assemblies to prevent the spread of germs. And the LEDs on the back of the RS5100 can work in tandem with your application, lighting up to indicate the fastest path to the next item — right, left or straight.

You get unmatched versatility and flexibility. Pair it with virtually any Bluetooth-enabled Zebra enterprise-class mobile device to unlock the full feature set. Just tap to pair with any NFC-enabled Zebra device — no need to scan pairing barcodes or open Bluetooth settings to identify and select devices.

A choice of two scan engines allows you to tailor the RS5100 to deliver the best scanning performance for your applications. A variety of options allow workers to hear, see or feel feedback when a scan is successful — an audible beep, a visual LED prompt or an optional tactile vibration.

There is a trigger option for any worker and any application. Choose a single-sided trigger, which can be used with or without gloves, on either hand. A double-sided trigger adds flexibility — workers can switch hands on-the-fly. And both the single- and double-sided triggers have a built-in top trigger that can be worn on the side of the finger for a near-zero protrusion above the hand — ideal when workers need to reach into tight spots for picking.

The battery allows you to keep the RS5100 in service, shift after shift — just swap in a fully charged battery when needed. Choose from two batteries — a standard battery that provides 12 hours of power and up to 14,400 scans on a single charge, and an extended battery with longer cycle times, designed to operate in cold environments.

And with PowerPrecision Console, a no-charge Mobility DNA tool, you can spot and discard aging batteries that can no longer hold a full charge.

The RS5100 delivers the best-in-class scanning performance that has made Zebra the industry leader. Both scan engine options enable the near-instant capture of even damaged, dirty and poorly printed 1D and 2D barcodes through PRZM Intelligent Imaging, a megapixel sensor, and Zebra’s superior algorithms. And larger barcodes are easy to capture with a wide field of view.

When it comes to rugged design, you can expect the best. It’s the only ring scanner in its class to offer a drop, tumble and IP sealing specification, ensuring it can handle drops, bumps and even a high-pressure hose down.

Nylon straps and a metal buckle resist abrasion and wear, unlike the hook-and-loop fasteners that many competitive devices use. The trigger is built to handle millions of presses — instead of the competition’s few hundred thousand.

The RS5100 can handle high levels of electrostatic discharge, critical to protecting sensitive scanner electronics against the buildup of static electricity common when walking on concrete flooring. And by integrating highly used features — such as the trigger, charge contacts and vibration engine — in a field-replaceable component, downtime is virtually eliminated.

Innovative accessories simplify and reduce the cost of managing your ring scanners. With five high-capacity RS5100 ShareCradles, you can charge 100 scanners — instead of purchasing and managing 100 individual USB charging cradles. And ShareCradles can charge the entire ring scanner or just the batteries, allowing you to decide on the charging strategy that’s best for your business — unlike the competition.

Boost workforce productivity and reduce the time and cost of device management in your business with the RS5100 — the next generation wireless ring scanner.
