Major Florida agency implements RFID System. Wednesday July 09, 2008 - Florida Fish and Wildlife, a major state agency covering all 67 counties in Florida, has recently undergone an upgrade of their existing barcode based asset tracking system to new version that uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. In an effort to make the collection of fixed asset data faster and more accurate, the agency will tag up to 40,000 assets including IT equipment, vehicles, radios, and boating gear with small durable RFID tags. The upgrade to the Strategic RFID Asset Tracking System, the solution that has been used by the agency since 2001, integrates directly with the State of Florida's accounting system and makes the process of taking an audit inventory a seamless data collection process.
